Sequoia Brewing Company was started in October of 2003
with 11 different ales a nd
lagers on tap. Sequoia Brewing started as
Butterfield Brewing Company in the Spring of 1989 in
the heart of the historical Tower District, in Fresno,
California. The Micro Brewing Company and
restaurant is known as a neighborhood icon in Fresno.
The Sequoia Brewing Company is owned and operated by
Scott and Michele Kendall.
The
Kendalls' Goal: to brew the best beer and serve
great food with a menu for everyone, of all ages in a
warm comfortable atmosphere where everybody knows your
name. A place where you can come and sample the
entire line of Sequoia's premium ales and lagers and
specialty beers on tap, as well as their delicious
homemade root beer. Sequoia Brewing Company is a
hot spot for live music featuring the best local bands
in Fresno and a private party room and board room for
special occasions or meetings. Sequoia Brewing
is a place for all ages to enjoy.
Scott
and Michele changed the name to Sequoia Brewing
Company in the fall of 2003 with a love for the
Sequoia's, the abilities to bottle and wholesale
their premium ales and lagers. Started
coming out with the "Thunderhead Amber Ale" on draft
and later adding "Moto Brew Pale Ale" to their retail and
wholesale lineup.
The
Brewmaster for the Sequoia Brewing Company is Kevin Cox.
Kevin has a passion
for brewing and has been an award winning and professional
brewer since 1987, and previously was an award-winning home
brewer for 5 years. Kevin made Butterfield
beer famous and is well on it way to giving Sequoia
Brewing Company the same great reputation with its own
superior micro brewed ales and lagers. He is a
National award-winning professional brewer with eight
medals, including five gold medals at the Great
American Beer Festival in Denver, Colorado.
Before brewing beer he was a the cellarmaster/production manager for Heitz Wine Cellars
in the Napa Valley from 1979 to 1989. Between
1987 to 1989 he also helped start the Napa Valley
Brewing Company which is currently, in operation today.
When
a long time friend of Scott's from high school and
their Motocross days called and asked, "Can you come up with a beer for
Motocross and we'll call it "Moto Brew"? Scott
agreed to talk to Kevin, who came up
with the recipe for
Moto Brew Pal Ale. From
there, the well known Motocross rider and designer Troy
Lee of "Troy Lee D esigns"
designed an awesome label for
Moto Brew that is talked
about and recognized everywhere. The first batch
was brewed and bottled in September, 2004. The
most often heard comment is, "Not only is this a cool
label, but it's a great beer!"
Moto Brew has
found it place in all walks of life not just the
Motocross arena. Word is spreading quickly about
Moto Brew, people love the beer and the concept.
With a line of Moto Brew merchandise and promotional
materials such as: table tents, coasters, signs,
banners, t-s hirts,
sweatshirts, polo shirts, stickers, bottle openers,
and posters, Moto Brew is everywhere and growing in
the Untied States and in other countries around the
world.
